Volcan Turrialba historically has been a violent erupter, spewing ash for several years as far as Managua, Nicaragua. Prevailing winds aloft are nomally blowing from Southeast to Northwest from 10000-20000 feet. Imagine what would happen to the GAM (Gran Area Metropolitano)if Turrialba Volcano repeated the earlier eruption in the 1860's (No Computers-No Busses-No Automobiles-No Airplanes-No Trains!)...
